Be 18 years of age or more at the time of applying for a light, two wheeler and other categories of driving license
A person applying for medium, heavy and equipment license should be 21 years of age or more
Have held a Learner'(s) License for at least six months for general public and three months for trainees passed out from Driving Training Institutes

Turn Around Time (TAT)
The TAT for the driving test is 1 day for theory and practical tests. The theory test is conducted online. If a person is illiterate, she / he will have to undergo oral tests.

Nu.500 for equipment
Nu.100 for Heavy and Medium Vehicles
Nu.75 for Light Vehicles
Nu.50 for Two wheeler
Procedures for Driving Test:
Register for the driving test online .
Attend Theory Test
Attended Practical Test
Fill up bio-data form, pay fees and submit documents if passed. If failed, re-sit for test in next scheduled driving test paying the booking fees
Enter information into e-RaLIS
Compile Test result and submit report to RTO for record and necessary action
Printing driving license
Important Notes
A Driving License would be issued within 3 days from the date of submission of documents and payment after the test
Driving test is conducted weekly in Regional Transport Offices with the exception of Thimphu Region conducting Driving Test thrice in a week and once in a month in Base offices.
